Cherishing the Moments

What a busy and full month it has been!  And so very full of love and creativity and giving and receiving.  My heart is full of all the beautiful memories we made together.
Last week we had my parents over for a meal and a gift exchange.  It was a beautiful time that I’ll always be thankful for.  The next day I spent most of my time in the kitchen.  I made a large batch of cinnamon rolls and cinnamon bread for our Christmas morning breakfast, and also a breakfast casserole.  I also made lunch for Christmas day, so that I could simply turn on the crock-pot as we left for church, and then come home to a prepared meal.
Just a day or two before Christmas I finished sewing these matching p.j.’s for my children (they were so happy with them!):
It was such a joy to give our children gifts and then play with them together, enjoying the moment as much as the gift.
Christmas morning we went to church, and then afterward we went to the nursing home to sing and give out cards made by the children (we usually go to sing at the nursing home once a month).  It was a blessing to be able to fellowship with friends and also bless others.
After church we enjoyed the crock-pot pizza I had prepared the day before (ready and waiting for us when we got home–I love my crock-pot!).  In the afternoon we went out to the back yard to play with the new BB gun.
As this year comes to a close, I’m thankful for so many things:
  1. Jesus
  2. family
  3. friends
  4. thoughtful gifts that bring tears to my eyes because the giver is so dear to me
  5. hot cocoa
  6. homemade whole wheat cinnamon rolls
  7. wool socks
  8. a precious two-year-old
  9. a sweet six-year-old
  10. an awesome eight-year-old
  11. a terrific ten-year-old
  12. a lovely twelve-year-old
  13. and the wonderful man I’ve almost been married to for fourteen years (next month)!
  14. chocolate
  15. grace
  16. forgiveness
  17. laundry
  18. bright colors
  19. a new scarf
  20. little helpers doing the dishes
  21. a new necklace that looks bright and cheery, helps others, and reminds me to pray for orphans, widows, and those in need.  every time I look at it I smile…
And most of all…LOVE…I’m learning more about love every single day.  Sometimes it’s painful and difficult, sometimes it’s as easy as breathing…but it’s always beautiful.
“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
~1 Corinthians 13:13
