Recent Craft Projects

Last year I started this embroidery of Psalm 127:3. After taking it with me on various trips and working on it here and there in the van (while my husband was driving), I finally finished it last week. I love how it turned out!
I haven’t done much embroidery in the past, and mine isn’t perfect, but I really enjoyed making this. I actually think I like the look of it better than cross stitch. Now I just need to find a frame for it. Thankfully, it fits in a standard 5×7 opening, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find.
I have a very difficult time just sitting, especially if I’m riding in the van. I was looking for something a bit more “mindless,” so I turned to knitting these dishcloths again. I haven’t made one in a long time.
After a long break from it, it feels good to be knitting again. 🙂

  1. I think your embroidery turned out so well. I love the image of the children.
I also can't sit still and love mindless knitting. I've been churning out The Almost Lost Washcloth projects, but have been meaning to try the one you use, just for variety.

    1. Thank you! I've never heard of The Almost Lost Washcloth pattern, so I had to go look it up. What a neat pattern! Someday maybe I'll try that one, too. I love small projects that finish quickly. 🙂

  2. Your embroidery is a little piece of art – just beautiful! And knitting while sitting in the car is just the best! I love this calm and peaceful feeling of a long trip with knitting and chatting and listening to music and watching the world go by 🙂

  3. Your embroidery is lovely! I just had a look at etsy and all their embroideries are so sweet. I would love to make some – maybe framed down our hallway?!
Hope you are feeling better soon.

  4. You did such a nice job on the embroidery project. 🙂 Do you know where you will hang it? I ordered the sampler for my eight year old to work on (which I learned about from your other post way back when…thank you!) I think they are so endearing and sweet.
I hope you have a lovely holiday weekend.

    1. Thank you, Carol! I haven't decided where to hang it yet. I can't decide between over my desk or in the hallway with our family gallery wall, or the living room! 🙂

We've had the flu going around here (fever, body aches, etc.), so I'm praying no one will be sick this weekend! Although my husband will be working this weekend and Monday anyway. 🙂 I hope you have a great weekend!

    2. So sorry to hear a few of you are under the weather. We seem to be sharing the "joy" in our home as well.
Hopefully everyone has perked up and are feeling much better now.

    3. Thanks, Carol. It's one of those slow-moving kinds of illness, so every few days someone else is getting it. Sorry to hear you've had something going around also!

  5. I love your embroidery, Joy! It is just lovely! I think I like the look of embroidery a bit better than cross-stitch, too. 🙂 Both are beautiful, though!

Your dishcloth looks nice as well!

Missing you! And planning to write you soon!

  6. Oh, Joy! Thank you so much for sharing! My sweet Bethany (7 years old) LOVES having Scripture by her bed, and feels more at peace. We're in the process of switching bedrooms around and there's a lot of change happening…and change is hard on her. Also, next month my husband and I get to go away for our 10 year anniversary! The flight and several long-ish car rides will give me plenty of time to make the "Rejoice in the Lord" one to hang near Bethany's bed in her new room! I'm so excited! You never know how one simple post can bless someone so much!

    Hugs,
    Joy C.

    1. Oh, I'm so glad it was helpful to you, Joy! I just went to look at the "Rejoice in the Lord" one–it's very beautiful! I'd like to do that one, too. In fact, I'd like to do just about all of them! Have fun on your 10 year anniversary trip! ♥

  7. Your embroidery looks beautiful! I love the embroidery projects Clementine Patterns provides. I have embroidered one, and am still working on another.

  8. I have a couple Clementine patterns. They really are so nice. I also just started knitting up some dishcloths last night. My mother-in-law loves knitted dishcloths and asked if I'd make her some. I do love that simple pattern. It really is so mindless. 🙂

    1. That's neat that your mother-in-law asked you to make her some dishcloths! I was thinking of doing the same thing for my mother-in-law. 🙂
