Singing Canary Drink
Ingredients:
- 2 lemons
- 3 cups filtered water
- 4,000 mg Vitamin C powder
- 2 teaspoons whey protein powder
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon virgin coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Pure Stevia Extract to taste (I just use one little scoop full of stevia—using the “doonk” scoop that comes in the bag.)
- 4-8 drops of therapeutic grade lemon essential oil (optional)
Peel the yellow skin off of the lemons, but leave as much of the white part as possible. Slice the lemons and remove the seeds.
Put the lemons into your blender with 3 cups of water and blend well.
Pour the blended liquid into a sieve (I use a little fine mesh sieve.)
Pour Singing Canary juice into a 2 quart glass mason jar. Top with ice or filtered water until the liquid reaches the top of the jar (ice is great in the summer, but I use a bit of water when it’s cold out). Put a lid on the jar and shake well.
Enjoy!
I pour mine into a smaller glass or jar and drink it with a straw, to keep the acidic liquid from getting too much on my teeth.
You can add more stevia if you think it needs it. This drink is designed to be sipped throughout the day. I keep the larger jar in the refrigerator and just pour the amount I need into a smaller glass.

Interesting recipe. When I try it, however, I’ll go with plant based protein powder. After years of using whey protein supplements, I started coming across more and more cautions about them and made the switch.
Joy Kincaid says
Good idea! We use a variety of protein powders at our house, including plant-based ones, which seem to work well.
Catherine says
What can be substituted for the whey protein?
Joy Kincaid says
I have used this THM collagen in place of whey powder in many recipes.
Catherine Giannace says
Thanks, Joy. Could I use pea protein?
Joy Kincaid says
You’re welcome, Catherine! Regarding the pea protein, I’m not completely sure it would be “on plan.” This drink is a fuel pull with the whey and/or collagen, but I’m not sure how pea protein would affect that.
Catherine says
Thank you, Joy!
Vanessa says
Hi! Thanks foe this, im going to try it! Are you supposed to drink the whole thing in one day?
Joy Kincaid says
You can, or you can save some for the next day. I usually sip on it throughout the day.
Michelle says
So the stuff left in the sieve, you just throw out, correct? Directions are hard to follow with adrenal fatigue brain! LOL Thanks!
Joy Kincaid says
Yes, I just throw that out! 🙂

Hello Joy,
I have been battling with adrenal fatigue, specially when traveling home (22 hours flight) where it gets to the worse, the diets are not easy to follow unless you have all the time to be in the kitchen 🙁 . This seems like an excellent start point to me, could you please please share it??? I am also looking at your other post about the topic! thanks a lot !!!
xx
Joy Kincaid says
Sorry to hear you’re dealing with adrenal fatigue, Liz. I know how difficult that is. I just sent you the instructions! 🙂
meryem says
hi
How long you need to take this drink to feel better and boost your adrenal, thanks
Meryem
Joy Kincaid says
Hi Meryem,
I think it’s probably different for everyone, as it depends on how depleted your adrenals are. For me, this drink was only one small part of healing my adrenal fatigue. I explain more about how I got my health back in this post.
Gretchen Louise says
The Singing Canary may be my very favorite thing about THM! I make it in bulk and freeze it into ice cubes. And, because I’m not into things very sweet, I don’t add the sweetener. But it’s an almost-every-day-sipper in my house!
Joy Kincaid says
What a great idea to freeze it into ice cubes! That would make it a lot more convenient. I may have to try that!
Lindsey says
I know this post is almost 5 months old, but could I also trouble you to email me your rewrite/directions for this recipe? I read through the THM link and am somewhat intimidated!
Joy Kincaid says
Sure, Lindsey, I'd be happy to! I'll just need your email address. You can write to me at [email protected].
Laura Lane says
This is much easier for me to follow. Thanks for rewriting it. I'll pin it.

Joy Kincaid says
Great–I'm glad it was helpful!
Joy Kincaid says
Sorry, Laura, but I was asked by the THM Community Manager to remove my rewritten recipe/instructions, so we'll just have to rely on the original ones. 🙂
"Country girl" says
Darn can you send it to me via email?
Joy Kincaid says
Sure, if you send me your email address. 🙂
Nathaniel says
I've been wanting to try this…but I'm too chicken! 😉 How long does it take to make? I think that's my biggest hold up. Maybe I'll be brave this week. Thanks so much for sharing! Hugs, Joy
Joy Kincaid says
Go ahead and try it! 🙂 I will be honest, it does take awhile to make. One idea someone else had for cutting off a bit of the prep time is to make little baggies with the pre-measured dry ingredients. Another lady made up a bunch in advance in gallon jars. It does seem to separate though, so it needs to be shaken together each time before you pour some out into a glass to drink. Hope that helps!
JES says
Hi Joy, thank you for sharing this! We get tons of free lemons in the winter and this drink would be a blessing I think! Some days the energy levels just aren't there. Not sure if it is adrenal fatigue but I am sure this would help. I will probably use raw honey instead of stevia since I am not on the THM plan… Hope you have a lovely weekend 🙂
Joy Kincaid says
What a blessing to get free lemons! I'm sure raw honey would be great and nourishing, too. Hope you have a great weekend also! 🙂
