Mother’s Day 2015

2015 marked my 16th year of motherhood. It’s hard to believe that so many years have passed, and that my children are getting so much older! Two of my children are taller than me, and my third-born is almost there.
Roses my oldest son picked for me. ♥
As a young mom with my first little newborn, I never dreamed how much motherhood would change me.
From my beloved and my children.
I never dreamed how beautiful, painful, sweet, and hard motherhood would be. How completely life-altering and amazing it is.
A rose from my husband. (And he also gave me some Lily’s chocolate!)
I’m so thankful for the blessing of being called “Mom” (and “Mommy”) by these five beautiful children!
Even though the day was rainy, we still had a nice time. We had my mom over for lunch after church, and enjoyed pie with fresh whipped cream for dessert (made by my daughters). ♥

P.S. Last week I mentioned healing my diastasis recti and the sale at The Tummy Team–the prices on splints and online programs are still good this week!

  1. What a beautiful family Joy! Thank you for sharing with us on the Art of Home-Making Mondays! 🙂 I love the vintage look of your photo.

  2. Nothing has brought me closer to God than being a mother. I never even wanted kids when I first got married. I am sure God was laughing. We ended up having fertility issues that lasted for three years, but I have a daughter and twin boys. Motherhood was/is so transforming. I thank God for it. Your family is so beautiful. Looking back now I wish we would of had more but the twins were soooo hard. Who knows, maybe I will be grandma within the next few years.

    1. Thank you, Christy! I can relate to much of what you wrote. Motherhood is such a blessing even though it can be very challenging. I always hoped for more than 5, but I'm thankful for the children the Lord blessed us with. And becoming a grandma sounds wonderful!
