What I Wore

It finally got cold here–I was freezing in these pictures!  I really love the cheery yellow color of this sweater. I wasn’t sure what my husband would think of this outfit, but he actually complimented me on it and said he really liked it.
Yellow Cardigan (Forever 21)
Black/White Stripe Top (Forever 21)
Denim Skirt:  ebay a couple of  years ago
Boots:  Rampage brand (these are similar)–gift from my parents-in-love
This was a “denim skirts and black boots” kind of week.  I am so happy with these boots.  They really keep my legs warm when it’s cool out and I’m wearing a skirt (and a pair of these helps, too).  I didn’t plan to wear them so many days in the week, though–somehow I just gravitated toward them–and I’m expecting to get a lot of use out of them!
Just about to head out the door…
Gray cardigan sweater: Old Navy (purchased years ago at a thrift store)
Long black layering tee:  Deborah & Co.
Denim skirt:  QVC online several years ago
Boots:  (Similar)
Purse:  Hand-me-down from my mom
And I’m wearing a necklace I made:
You may not be able to see it in the picture, but the trunk of the tree is made of the word “Peace,” and it has a little bird charm along with a couple of bead charms.  I really like it.
And I’m wearing a mini flexi clip (that I only noticed was in crooked after I took the picture!):
After noticing it was crooked, I fixed it–much better!  🙂

  1. Great outfits. I liked the yellow too. I enjoy that part of winter when you can wear sweaters and boots! I need some boots!
    Thanks for sharing.
May you day be filled with smiles.

  2. You dress the way I dress..well at least the way I want to dress. We seem to have a bit of the same figure. After having twins 10 years ago my tummy will never be the same. What size do you wear in skirts? My town doesn't offer much for denim skirt shopping and doing it online I worry about getting the right size. You can message me privately if you like.

    1. Hi Christy!

Don't give up on your tummy! I know how frustrating it can be–after 5 big babies (two of them 8 lbs and over, one 9 lb., one of them almost 9 1/2 lbs. and I'm only 5' 2" with a very short waist)–I've been sad to see what's happened to my tummy, too. But I believe there's hope! I'm reading Trim Healthy Mama , and I think it's one of the keys to a flat tummy. Also T-Tapp Exercises are great for tummy flattening! I can't wait to get started!

Ebay is a great place to find skirts online, if you find someone who adds the actual waist measurement to their listings. Measure a skirt you own that has a similar waistband. For instance, if you're ordering a skirt without an elastic waist (one that has more of a jeans-type of waist with a button and fly), then measure around the inside of that skirt. You could probably also measure around a pair of jeans if you don't own a skirt like that. A lot of Ebay listings will tell you the actual waist measurement of the inside of the skirt they are listing (and that is so helpful).

It's even easier with elastic waist skirts, as these will fit a broader range of sizes.

Skirt sizes vary from brand to brand, and I've found I can wear a broad range of sizes, from 6-10, but it depends on the actual skirt. So it's really helpful if you can find out the actual measurements or at least order from a place that accepts returns. The QVC skirt above is a size 8, but I think that skirt runs a bit large. I originally ordered a 10, and it was falling off of me. I've also been able to borrow my much thinner daughter's skirts from time-to-time, depending on the fit (and she likes for her skirts to be falling off of her–she wears a size 2-4, but sometimes she'll find a 6/7 or 8 at a thrift store that she'll buy and wear hanging off of her hips. 🙂 Sometimes I can wear the ones that are falling off of her (and they fit me properly!).

      Hope that's helpful!
