Patriotic Cookies
These cookies are the perfect 4th of July dessert, because they’re red, white and blue! I just love how festive they look, and I also love that they’re SIMPLE.
The basic recipe for these cookies has been in my family for over 20 years. So, that makes it one of those special family recipes that I enjoy pulling out and using again.
The only change I made to our original family recipe was to add the red, white and blue m&m’s to make them the perfect patriotic cookies.
How to Make Them
Get out a big mixing bowl and add the first 5 ingredients. (For the oil, I used coconut oil.) Use an electric mixer to blend all the ingredients together until smooth.
Dump in the m&m’s and stir them gently with a spoon to combine them with the rest of the ingredients.
Drop the dough from a teaspoon onto an un-greased cookie sheet (I’ve been using these for almost 20 years now!). I love to use a cookie scoop for this, because it’s easy and the cookies turn out nice and round.
Pop them into the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes (mine took about 12).
If you use a teaspoon or cookie scoop, this recipe makes about 40 cookies.
