This is a re-post from the archives. This was originally posted last April (2012), but I wanted to share it again, in honor of May being the month that we celebrate mothers and all they do!
{Moments from a day in my life…}

{Helping my husband work on the lawnmower. }

{Rosemary Chicken with rosemary from my herb garden.}

{The chocolate sheet cake in the background was made by my daughter to take to a gathering. She did a great job, and I’m so proud of her!}

Mothers have such an important job! We love our husbands and children, cook, clean, bandage cuts and bruises, read stories, nurse babies, and many of us homeschool in addition to all that. It is such a high calling, but sometimes it’s so easy to feel discouraged and weary. Blessings to all the mothers who might read this! Keep going, your family needs you! (If you’re reading this and you’re not a mother, you still have a high calling to do whatever it is He has called you to do. May you be blessed as you do His will!)
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might…”
~Ecclesiastes 9:10
“She…willingly works with her hands.”
~Proverbs 31:13
“Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.”
~Proverbs 31:31

I loved this post, Joy! A mother's hands are indeed beautiful. And what a blessing yours are to each member of your family as you use your hands to bless and minister to each of them!
Thank you! I was happy to have the hair braiding pictures to remember these days…I love doing my 3 girls' hair. 🙂
These are so sweet. I especially can relate to the ones braiding the girls hair. I really enjoy thta time when I'm braiding my daughter's hair. It's a time I can get them slow down, and talk to me for just a tiny second…. Then they are off running around again. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comment, Heather!
Oh, I just adored all these photos. They each tell a story…and those mamma hands of yours sure do a lot for a lot of people 🙂 Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 🙂
Happy Little Housewife,
I'm so humbled that something I write may be used to encourage another mother. To God be the glory! ♥Joy
I have been feeling discouraged lately. Your post has brought me to tears and reminded me that I am doing exactly what I should be doing.I'm blessed to find "friends" from a far in the blogging community. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you all so much for your kind comments!
mamashara,
You are so right about homemaking not being mundane. I worked outside the home for years (before having children), and I was often very bored. I've never been bored as a homemaker! 🙂
Heather,
Thank you!
Anonymous,
Happy Birthday! So thankful that the Lord might have used something here to encourage you!

Nancy,
Thank you!
Kim,
Thanks!
Karen,
Your comment was so encouraging to me. With each of my 5 pregnancies, I have been bed-ridden for much of the time. When I'm lying in bed for months, how I long to get up and work! To be able to work with our own hands is a true blessing and privilege that we often take for granted until we are unable to do so for one reason or another.
Mary Beth,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment! I am so blessed whenever I hear from young women who also love homemaking. May you be blessed as you serve your family! 🙂
Lisa,
Thank you for your sweet comment!
