I love home. And I am perfectly content to be here, surrounded by the ones I love best. Surrounded also with laundry, and chores, and meals to make, and routine.
Occasionally I’ve been asked, “Don’t you get bored staying at home all day?”
Bored? There have been times where I’ve had a logistical situation I couldn’t figure out. Sometimes I get frustrated. I wonder how I’ll ever help a certain child remember to do a particular chore. I sometimes feel weary. But bored?
I can honestly say that in almost fourteen years as a homemaker, I’ve never been bored at home. I have so many creative projects swirling around in my brain that I could never get them done in a lifetime. I love waking up in the morning with a new creative idea in my head. And I love seeing my children exercising their own creativity.
::.A little cloth lady, designed and created by my creative daughter. She used fabric scraps and leftover bits of lace to make a whole wardrobe of dresses, nightclothes, skirts, and shirts. She may be a dress designer someday.::
::.I love hearing their laughter as they play.::
::.I love beauty…even when it’s surrounded by weeds (I didn’t spend much time weeding this summer)!.::
::.I love seeing my husband’s gardening efforts. He built a pallet compost bin with some free pallets.::
::.These caterpillars ate all my dill, but if they turn into lovely butterflies I’ll forgive them.::
::.I love cooking food from the garden.::
As I look back on another summer spent at home, I feel thankful. Thankful to be a homemaker, and thankful for the privilege of spending each day at home with my family.

I think when you've worked outside the home (I did for years as a single young woman and then most of our first year of marriage), it makes it all that much more special to get to finally be a homemaker. 🙂
There is no greater blessing than being home with our blessings…teaching, doctoring, caring, loving, learning along with them and sharing our heart.

Beautiful! We had enjoyed a lovely summer here too. I need to update my blog a bit more often. I love being home too, I was helping with VBS this past week and it gave me a taste of what it would be like if I had to go out to work every day. I'm so thankful I can be home with my family. 🙂

Beautiful! I love all the photos, as well as the heart of love and thankfulness behind them. My sisters and I often joke about how the world perceives us. We are often asked how we fill our days, and I am often curious how you keep a home at all while working outside of it. I find there are simply never enough hours in the day for all that I need and want to get done. So nice to see this lovely work being celebrated. Far too often we are reminded of how hard it is (which it is at times), and of the drudgery dealt with day in and day out. But we often forget, and what the world misses altogether, is the beauty of loving our children close up and all day long. We get to plan our days as we see fit, and enjoy our children and homes in ways many other people miss. What a privilege and a joy!
