“Your home life drastically shapes your children’s lives. When you make cookies, you aren’t just fiddling around in the kitchen, wasting time. You are building people who grew up on those cookies—with that kind of warmth and experience in their lives.”   ~Rachel Jankovic, Homemade People

Hi, I'm Joy!

I'm a homemaker and homeschooling mom of 5. For over 25 years I've been cooking from scratch and making homemade bread for my family of 7. I love sharing sourdough recipes, easy dinner ideas, and simple DIY projects for your home.

I grew up in a poor family, but we never knew it. My Mom always made sure we had lots of love and we enjoyed making cookies, homemade gifts, and ornaments at Christmas. Making cookies together is a gift you give your kids that stays with them forever.

Hi Joy! Such a sweet, sweet picture! I just love it 🙂 My "little ones" are both taller than me now, and they are 18 and almost 20!!! Where did the time go? We always enjoyed baking cookies together at Christmastime, still do! When I was little, my older brother and sister and I baked these same cutout sugar cookies, then decorated them with colorful icing and candies. I love traditions in the family…they bring a sense of warmth, love, and "home" to what has become such a crazy, messed up world at this time of year. Thanks for bringing up wonderful memories!Blessings,Lori

Oh what happy memories! When my boys were little, it was our tradition to bake and decorate Christmas cookies too. They turned out looking a lot like your children's. I think I was digging out sprinkles in the floorboards until the next Christmas. What jolly times! Enjoy your children, they grow up fast!
