We usually greet spring with such a sense of welcome relief from the long, cold winter.  This year, however, it seemed we barely had any winter at all.  But still, we welcomed spring and all the beauty that came with it.
Daffodils grow wild in the woods behind our house, and I was thankful to have bouquets of them every day for a couple of weeks.
Rainy spring days are great for puzzles…
…and a cup of tea…my tea bag had the following quote printed on it:
“You are never too old to become younger.” ~Mae West  🙂
Some spring reading…
Our peach trees, apple trees, and a cherry tree are doing well.  We did lose an apple tree and a cherry tree, which was sad, but we’re thankful to still have the others.
I love this flowering quince…
…and so do the bees…
My little guy helped me make cinnamon rolls.  It was so cute!
The children planned and organized a “spring festival,” complete with a play, special food, and games.  It was sweet to see them working on it together, and it kept them occupied for a long time.
One day we went to the Amish bulk food store to buy groceries.
We also stopped at a Mennonite plant nursery and picked up a few plants,
and a big box of strawberries (not local ones–they came from a warmer climate–we prefer to buy local, but these were a good deal, so we decided to try them).  I was able to freeze a couple of bags to use in smoothies.
My husband is building three small raised beds.  We had some dirt delivered today.  I can’t wait to plant some things in them.
My mom and dad had some extra strawberry plants, so they shared some with us.
This has been a very good year for the lilacs, which I just love.
It’s so nice to be enjoying meals outside again.
I made more bread for a get-together.
This was fun to punch down.  🙂
The chamomile that I planted last fall, thinking it would probably die over the winter:
My girls have been bringing in fresh flowers every day.  One of them said to me, “Mom, didn’t you say you wanted to have fresh flowers on the table every day?” (I do love flowers!)
Oh, I so much love these “bridal veil” (spirea) bushes!  They are so extravagantly beautiful, and they really do remind me of a bride’s veil.  As I was enjoying their beauty, I thought, if God makes such beauty here on earth, just think how beautiful heaven must be.
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
~1 Corinthians 2:9
“Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and all its fullness; let the field be joyful, and all that is in it.  Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the Lord.”
~Psalm 96:11-12
