My Recipe Binder
It seems there is never enough time in the day to get to all the projects on my list! I finally (almost) finished a project I’ve been working on for some time–my personal cookbook binder.
I’ve had a binder full of recipes for years, but it was getting out of hand. I kept thinking it would be so nice to have all of the recipes that we use on a regular, sometimes even weekly, basis all in one handy place. I still have yet another binder with lesser-used recipes in it, but this one stays out on the counter and has all the things I use regularly. Things like brown rice, baked oatmeal, basic oatmeal, my favorite meatloaf recipe, my bread recipe and some other favorites that I use all the time and yet I don’t have all the particular amounts memorized. I also tried to put similar recipes on pages together so that it was more orderly, and I like the way it looks. I still need to put some tabs on the side so I can find things easier.
On some of the pages I had to include some photos that were memories from that particular recipe. I put a photo of my husband working in his garden by his salsa recipe (the one that was scribbled on a small scrap of paper that he looks for each summer and we always have to dig around to find it!). I have a treasured photograph of my little children making cut-out cookies next to the recipe for sugar cookies. It makes me smile every time I look at it.
