Last week I avoided my computer. No blogging, no email, nothing. I didn’t even turn it on. Of course, my husband always has his computer on because his occupation requires it, but I stayed away from his computer also.

The result was…silence.

Silence in my own head. I was able to meditate on my own thoughts without the intrusion of someone else’s thoughts or ideas. It was kind of a nice feeling. I also accomplished a big project that I’d had on my “to do” list for a long time.

The biggest accomplishment, though, was time spent playing with my children. Much of the time I just feel so busy that it’s hard to really get into playing with them. But one day I played “house” with my four younger children (Ezra was our baby), and it was actually fun, and I know it meant a lot to them. We played on the swings and I watched them ride bikes. You know, I finally got to the really important things.
