24 Hours Is All You Get

Recently, I listened to a talk by Susan Bradrick called  24 Hours Is All You Get I thought it was so encouraging and helpful.

One of the Bible passages Mrs. Bradrick continually referred to was Ephesians 5:15-17.

“Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time for the days are evil. So then, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
Some of the questions Mrs. Bradrick put forth to her listeners were these:
1. Do we understand what the will of the Lord is, and what are we doing about it?
2. Are we wisely using our every minute to love and serve the Lord and disciple our children to do the same?
3. Are we faithfully using our time on activities and tasks that will purposely prepare our children for faithful obedience to Christ in their private lives, their homes, and their communities?
4. Are we daily preparing our children to pass God’s truth on to future generations?
5. Or, do we frequently fritter our time away on things that hinder us from being the Christlike salt and light that God intended us to be?
6. Is Jesus, who is always watching, pleased with how you are using your time?
(These are not necessarily direct quotes, but they are from the notes I quickly jotted down while listening.)

My daily list of priorities is pretty long these days:
3. Loving my children
4. Keeping our house orderly and tidy
5. Making and serving nourishing food
6. Getting adequate sleep
7. Teaching our children academics and practical life skills
8. Practicing hospitality
And so much more!!  Life is very busy and full these days, but I am so thankful for every minute.

  1. Mary,

I know just what you mean. It is so hard to determine what to focus on and what to let go. I'm constantly reevaluating everything for this reason!

Blessings and hugs to you, too!

  2. What a timely post for me to find tonight. I have finished a craft fair and am VERY tired. I have been questioning…is it worth it? Or should I re direct my time differently? Is it taking away from where I need to be at this time of life. Is it hindering what I "should" be focusing on? I need to pray about it and I feel your priorities are the same as mine. I need to tweak some in my life I think.

Thank you for getting me thinking. ( again [o=)

    Blessings and ((HUGS))
    -Mary
