When I have a chance to knit (which isn’t often), I’m working on this shawl (which turns out more like a triangular scarf, from the pattern reviews I’ve read).
I love the colors in this Noro sock yarn.  They remind me of a gray winter day; the ocean; the sky; lavender flowers; the woods…beautiful colors of God’s creation.  I find these colors very inspiring and peaceful.
I’m reading The Early Years: A Charlotte Mason Preschool Handbook, and finding it very inspiring as well.  I’ve already nurtured my four older children through the preschool years, and now I’m privileged to enjoy it again.  I love this age, with all its wonder and sweetness.  I do make use of my ideas for keeping little ones busy, and I also love learning more about this stage and how to make the most of this precious and fleeting time.

I've never bought it before, but Noro yarn is so pretty. I really like how the colors are coming together.

When my kids were preschoolers, I used Five in a Row with them. They loved the books in the series and I liked the simple projects that went along with them.

I love Five in a Row, too! I used Before Five in a Row with my oldest when she was little, and it was lovely and simple. Thanks for stopping by, Kathi!

Thank you, Christina! This is my first shawl, and I'm really enjoying the pattern, which is recommended for beginners. I imagine there's probably a simple shawl pattern for crochet out there somewhere…possibly on Ravelry? 🙂

That yarn is beautiful! What is the name of the pattern?

I taught myself to knit over 5 years and love it so much. I'm working on a scarf/shawl now. I'm about 80% done with it. Then it will be on to knitting for the new baby due in June! 🙂

    1. Joy Kincaid says:

Thank you, Leah! It's Noro Kureyon Sock yarn, and the colorway is #150. I love it, too. The pattern I'm using is the Simple Yet Effective Shawl.

I taught myself to knit about 16 years ago (I made a scarf for my fiance), and then I promptly forgot all about it until a couple of years ago when I decided I really wanted to learn!

Oh, knitting for a new baby is so lovely! ♥

      Thank you, Ellen!

Yes, I love all of Simply Charlotte Mason's books. Several years ago I got their book "Laying Down the Rails" (got it from Homeschool Classifieds), and really love it. I also have their book about planning your school year. When I saw the preschool book, I was really intrigued by it, and so far it has been wonderful.

      Hope your day is blessed!

    1. Joy Kincaid says:

Thank you, Deanna! I like to have one going so I can work on it while we drive and sometimes while we watch a movie. But it takes awhile for me to finish something!

Did you purchase that yarn online? I love it! I'd love to know where you got it and what brand/color it is.

    1. Joy Kincaid says:

Yes, I got it at Yarn Country. It's Noro Kureyon Sock yarn, and the colorway is #150. I just checked their website, and it appears to be out of stock. Hope you can find some!

  9. Jennifer says:

This is beautiful! Love the colour that you've chosen. I would love to learn how to knit! I have just learned in the last bit to crochet and am enjoying making baby blankets, even though I think our family is a big as it's going to get. I also crochet dish cloths with my 13 year old daughter.

    1. Joy Kincaid says:

Thank you, Jennifer! Baby blankets are so sweet, and they make such great gifts. That's wonderful that you and your daughter can crochet together…I am still working on teaching my 13-year-old to knit. I'd like to learn how to make crocheted lace. Maybe someday… 🙂

    XOXO

    1. Joy Kincaid says:

Thank you, Nicole! Oh, chicken pox…we haven't had those here yet. I don't look forward to it, especially for my older ones. Don't worry about writing, just take care of your sweet family! ♥
