What fun to start the week off with a review of the
Chic Sisters Apron Pattern by
Marie-Madeline Studio! And, we’re also having
a giveaway for you–wouldn’t you just love to make this apron? And here’s some more exciting news–
this giveaway is open to everyone! So, even if you live outside the USA, feel free to enter!
I’ve loved
Marie-Madeline’s fabric for several years now. They carry colorful, fun, high-quality fabric perfect for quilts, aprons, clothing, and anything else you might be dreaming of creating (and right now it’s on sale!). Getting a package from them is like receiving a gift. It’s always beautifully wrapped with a bright pink bow.
I just love this
fabric. I chose two prints from Tanya Whelan’s “Delilah” line.
The bib of the apron has bust darts for gentle shaping. This gives the apron a better fit.
I also love how the tie is attached to the waistband. It makes such a nice, clean finish. The inside of the apron looks almost as neat as the outside!
You can tie it in the back…
Or, you can also tie it in the front. Both ways look lovely.
As I mentioned above, I have long loved Marie-Madeline’s fabrics. But this is the first pattern of theirs I’ve ever used (I’ve been wanting to try them for so long, though!). The pattern comes printed on sturdy paper, and you will need to trace off the pieces before you can cut them out. I always do this anyway with any pattern I own, and it’s really simple.
The instructions were easy to follow, and the diagrams included were very helpful for visualizing each step.
I have used several apron patterns through the years, and I think this is my new favorite! It’s easy-to-sew, flattering, and super cute! Don’t you want to make one, too?
If you’re a beginning seamstress, this would make a great first project. There might be a few steps that are new to you, but I think the best way to learn is to get a pattern and work on it. When you get stuck on something you don’t understand, ask a sewing friend, look in a sewing how-to book, or look for a tutorial online. That’s how I taught myself, over thirteen years ago. I just found a pattern I liked and started slowly, from the beginning. You can do it!
