Favorite Sewing Patterns

Something about February inspires me to sew.  Recently, I pulled out a quilt I started about a year ago.  I got all the blocks made and then put it aside last year.  Now I have all the blocks sewn together and I’m ready to add the borders.  I can’t wait to finish it.  It will have to be one step at a time, here and there.  But now I’m thinking about clothes.  And making a dent in my fabric stash.  As I’m pondering what I might make, I thought I would share some of my favorite patterns.

I loved these King’s Daughters patterns when my girls were younger.
Girls’ Pinafore and Pantaloons(Click here to view more details)
These are the patterns I’m using more often these days:
Girls’ Simple Gathered Shift ePattern
M5370–appears to be out of print
(My older daughter loves this skirt pattern.)
(I think these are so cute on my younger girls.)
Elizabeth Lee Nursing Nightgown
(This nightgown has my favorite type of nursing openings.)
Blessed Designs Florinda Maternity Skirt
(I loved this for maternity, and then I altered it for regular wear.)
Made by Rae Baby Pants
(The best pair of pants for cloth diapered babies!)
Montessori Child’s Apron from Sew Liberated (free pattern)
(This is a great little apron for girls or boys. They can put it on all by themselves!)
Terrific Teepees
(My mom made this for our little ones years ago, and they are still playing with it.  It works inside and outside.  It’s great for rainy days.  It folds up simply and slides under the couch for storage.  Love it!)

  1. Hi!
I'd not heard of King's Daughter patterns before. I'm going to check them out. I'm in the mood to sew, too. I've been making handbags for my etsy shop reopening.

Won't you please drop by Harvest Lane Cottage and say hi?
    Blessings!
    Laura

  2. Tanya,
I'm sure your little ones would love the teepee! It's a lot of fun. 🙂 I agree about the skirt pattern. It was a great investment!

    Heather,
Thanks so much for your comment!

  3. Yes, I have a few of those very same patterns! 🙂

I need to look into making a teepee, my little ones would just love that! 🙂

My favourite skirt pattern is Florinda, both for maternity and non maternity. I'm wearing one right now! 🙂 I'm so glad I bought that pattern. 🙂

    Happy sewing!

I have a few sewing projects on the go and lots more I hope to do. 🙂

  4. Monique,
I agree, it is so nice to be able to make things yourself! Handmade is the best. 🙂

    Elisabeth,
Thank you! I spent all of last month organizing, too. I still have such a long way to go, but the areas I finished organizing make me feel happy every time I see them. Blessings to you!

    Deanna,
Just seeing the projects others are working on always inspires me to sew, too! 🙂

    Heather,
I agree with you, the King's Daughters patterns are great. I have made so many dresses and jumpers for my girls using their patterns. My younger daughter still wears a lot of the ones her sisters have grown out of.

  5. I love to sew year round but winter certainly puts me more in the mood to do it since we're often inside due to the weather. I love anything from The Kings Daughters! I have their Girls Button Dress pattern. And that apron looks really neat!

  6. I'm so happy to see you back! Thank you for the wonderful pattern ideas. I am doing some organizing in my home at the moment, but am really wanting to start some clothes sewing projects. I would love to have some cute dresses for my girls ready before the warm weather hits (which will be a while for us).

    Blessings,
    Elisabeth

  7. What a wonderful patterns! All of them! I think I have to make my daughter one soon ;o) Now I am busy making a quilt of thimbles and slightly touched by knitting. Just beginning, but owh.. how nice it is to make your own things!
