Secret Sewing

My little girl is going to have a birthday, and I wanted to make her a new dress.  I wanted something warm and cozy for this fall and winter, and I wanted it to be versatile enough that she could wear short or long sleeves with it.  That called for a jumper (I used McCall’s M5370).  I dug around in my fabric stash and found this cozy flannel fabric I’ve had for about six or seven years.  I never could decide what to make with it.  I originally thought I’d make her a nightgown, but she didn’t really need one, so I thought a dress would be better.  Then I decided to make a yo-yo barrette for her hair, and I used a vintage white glass button in the center.  The barrette is at the top of the clothes hanger in the picture below.
Then I thought it would be so fun to make her doll a matching dress!  This was the first time I’ve ever made a doll dress, and I think if I had the time it could be quite addicting.  Although I did have a hard time with a few little parts, just because of the tiny-ness of all the pieces.
I also made her doll a hair bow.  Her doll’s hair looks like it’s seen better days.  She has been very loved on.♥

I have all the little gifts neatly packed away until her birthday, and I can’t wait to give them to her!

  1. Hi Beth! I just sent you an e-mail. Hope you get it. The follow button is in my right hand sidebar. Sometimes Blogger seems to have a problem, though, and the follower gadget won't load. Sometimes refreshing the page will help. Thanks for asking!

I pray that your adoption goes through smoothly–that is very exciting! We also have a heart for adoption.

    Blessings!

  2. How very sweet! I am making my 5 year old niece a dress for Christmas and her dolly "Hope" will hopefully get a dress, too! I am having a difficult time trying to figure out how to "follow" you…but I would like to! I can't find a "follow" button!
I am also a homeschooling mom although my childen are much older and only have one left to homeschool. However, we are now going through the adoption process and are approved to adopt two from Lesotho, Africa! Can't wait to watch God work in our lives!
    Blessings, Beth
