My husband’s 95-year-old grandmother started this quilt when she was a teenager. She had a box of finished Sunbonnet Sues made with cheerful 1930’s fabrics that she had never sewn into a quilt. My mother-in-law made some quilted wall hangings for several of the granddaughters with the squares, and gave me some of the squares to make a quilt for our girls. I used the green fabric for the sashing because it was all that I had that would even kind of work, and because it made the quilt blend into the girls’ bedroom decor better (they have a pink and green color scheme).

Your husband's grandmother's Sunbonnet Sues are sweet. It's remarkable that something started so long ago was finished in the next century and is enjoyed in your family. I had the pink and green color scheme in a room for one of my girls, too.

Thank you, Karen! I agree, I thought it was so neat to be able to finish them and put them to use! I love pink and green together. 🙂
