We Must Begin With Ourselves
“The single most important decision a mother can make is to develop her own life with God. Unless she nurtures herself spiritually first, she will have no base from which to have a positive spiritual influence on her children.
As Billy Graham wrote, women should first ‘cultivate their souls that in turn they may cultivate the souls of their children.’
Scripture reveals God’s agenda for making a spiritual impact on our children: we must begin with ourselves; then we must teach our children. We will better understand our responsibility as mothers if we follow this order.
In Deuteronomy 6:6-7, God first tells parents, ‘These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.’ Then he says, ‘Impress them on your children.’
Before He tells us to teach, God tells us to grow.
God wants us to start with ourselves.”

Thank you, Jacqueline!
How true and wise these words are! how can we feed our little (and not so little ones) if we ourselves are not fed and ready to nurture. I am blessed by your words, dear Joy!! Welcome back!
Such wise, wise words. Thank you for that wonderful reminder. I am going to be waking earlier in the morning and have my quiet time more consistently.
