Recent Knitting

Last week a storm blew in suddenly one afternoon, and the power was off for over an hour.  While the rest of the family played games, I decided to work on a quick little project.  I sat by the window so that I could have a bit of light to see, and I made this little cell  phone holder in a very short time.  It’s kind of nice to have a little bag for the cell phone so I don’t have to dig around in my purse for it (on the rare occasions that I actually leave the house without my husband–we just have one cell phone that we share).
I literally have a pile of books that I’m perusing from the library:
These are all cookbooks and “how-to” books, so they don’t require that I sit and read them from cover to cover.  I enjoy just looking through them when I get a minute here and there.  I finished Radical a week ago, and then finished Raising Real Men last week.  Now I’m trying to finish Love Your Husband, Love Yourself
Are you knitting or reading anything new?

  1. Your books look inspiring, especially for this time of year. I thought I would share that the bagel recipe in "Laurel's Kitchen Bread Book" is wonderful. We are gluten free now, so I don't use it anymore, but I learned so much from that book.

    1. Thanks so much for letting me know about the bagel recipe. I've never made bagels before, but that sounds fun. We eat gluten free part of the time (mostly for my husband's health), but we still eat grains, too. It's so hard to let go of traditional baking (especially homemade whole grain breads)!

  2. You did a great job knitting this. I love the color you chose and the button is so cute! I have been knitting Christmas gifts. I don't want to be caught at the last minute.

    1. Thank you so much for sharing the pattern! I had been wanting to ask Liz for it, but I never got around to it. 🙂 I found that little wooden flower button in my button stash, and it seemed just right for it!

I'm starting to think about Christmas gifts, too. It's fun to give handmade gifts.

  3. That cell phone holder is SO cute! Where did you get the pattern? Or did you just make it up as you went? I'd love to make one myself.

I am currently knitting a shawl for winter, it is a deep purple and a very simple pattern using mostly garter stitch. I was in the mood for something easy that I could work on while chatting. I am reading through the Narnia series for the first time ever. I've read "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" several times, but never the whole series.

  4. That is an adorable little cell phone holder! And the books! I love the how to variety 🙂 I haven't seen that Homemade book before, but it looks like something I would enjoy. I guess it is time to start beefing up my reserve list at the library again!
