Bathroom Organization

I found the stainless steel toothbrush holder for $2 and the stainless steel soap dispenser for $2 at the discount grocery store (can you tell we love to shop at discount grocery stores?).  I was happy to have them, because they are pretty indestructible (hopefully–things don’t seem to last around here as long as I’d like).

Here are the children’s towel hooks behind the door.  Finally, I solved a long-time problem!
I was determined to solve the problem of children using too many towels, and always claiming they didn’t know which towel they had used last.  A friend (who has 10 kids) suggested I get each child a different color of towel.  That was a great idea, but we didn’t have the space to hang them up.  Besides, we had plenty of towels that still worked (even though we got them all as wedding gifts years ago), so I didn’t really want to invest in any new ones.
The solution:  I sewed a piece of grosgrain ribbon to each towel with a specific color designated for each child.  Each child has a hook, and each child has two towels, each with their own ribbon color.
It also seems to be easier for children to hang a loop of ribbon on a hook, than to get a towel hung up on a towel bar.  I’m happy to report that this is working wonderfully for us!  It is so nice to not have towels laying all over the bathroom floor after bath/shower time.  Everyone knows which one is theirs and where it goes. Love it!

  1. Thanks! I would love to refinish that dresser…too much furniture to refinish and not enough time! I guess it's a good thing I don't mind the "rustic" look. 🙂
