This recipe is the kind of thing I make to take somewhere. That way we don’t have to eat them all ourselves!

Whenever we make Christmas cookies to share with friends and neighbors, we love to include these presents, sugar cookies, chocolate star cookies, and these Christmas pretzel hugs. They just look so festive together!

How to Make Christmas Rice Krispie Presents

Here’s how to make these Christmas Rice Krispie Presents. The simple steps couldn’t be easier! (This is just a recipe overview—find the full recipe with ingredients and instructions below.)

  1. Grease a 9″ x 13″ pan and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat (I use my stainless steel Dutch oven for this). Stir in the vanilla.
  3. Add the marshmallows and stir well, allowing them to melt.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat, and add the Rice Krispies (and candy sprinkles, if using), stirring until all is combined and the cereal is coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Press the Rice Krispie mixture into the prepared 9″ x 13″ pan using a buttered spatula.
  6. Allow to cool, and cut into present shapes (squares or rectangles) and then tie each one with a red licorice string.

Christmas Rice Krispie Presents Tip

  • If you can’t find red string licorice, you can also use licorice strands (like Twizzlers), and just separate them. We’ve had to do this several times when we couldn’t find the red licorice laces locally.
