Easy Leftover Turkey Recipes

Every year in the fall, we make a whole turkey (like this Orange-Glazed Turkey) for Thanksgiving and sometimes also at Christmas. The next day, we love eating the leftovers from those holiday meals.

But when you have lots of Thanksgiving leftovers, it’s so useful to have some creative ways to use up all that leftover turkey meat, leftover Cranberry Sauce, and leftover gravy.

If you’re wondering what to do with leftover turkey, I’ve got some great ideas for you! In this post I’m sharing some of my favorite ways to use up leftover Thanksgiving turkey (and these recipes will also work with a rotisserie chicken or leftover chicken after you’ve made a Roasted Chicken).

Some of these leftover recipes are specifically designed for turkey, but others are actually chicken recipes, but also work well with turkey meat.

Homemade Turkey Bone Broth

Once you’ve enjoyed your holiday turkey, one of my favorite things to do is to make homemade turkey stock. This is such a great way to get the most out of your leftover turkey carcass. Just like making Chicken Stock, this easy turkey bone broth can be made in an Instant Pot, slow cooker, or on the stove top.

All you need are a few Pantry Staples, the turkey carcass and bones, and some water to make this comforting broth.

These recipes are usually made with chicken meat, but turkey meat works just as well. Substitute turkey meat for the chicken meat called for in the recipe.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stew

For this recipe, which usually requires 2 uncooked chicken thighs, simply follow the instructions for cooking the vegetables in the slow cooker and then an hour before cook time is up, add 3 to 3 1/2 cups cooked chopped turkey meat in place of the chicken.

Crockpot Taco Chicken Chili

For this recipe, I would add all the ingredients except the chicken breasts to the crockpot, and then cook as usual for about 6 hours on low, and then add about 3 cups of cooked and shredded turkey meat in the last 30 minutes of cooking. Or, you could cook this all on the stovetop.
