70 Valentine’s Bible Quotes to Inspire You
I’ve put together this collection of inspirational Valentine’s Bible quotes from God’s Word to help you focus on God’s love.
The Holy Bible is like a love letter from God. In the written Word of God, we read of His true love for humankind.
Valentine’s Day is a special day that comes around every February 14th.
This holiday actually started off as a Christian feast day in honor of St. Valentine, one of the more popular Christian saints of the Middle Ages.
While the focus of Valentines’ Day has become romantic love, as Christians we know there is a much greater divine love!
The greatest love of all is demonstrated in the death of God’s only begotten son, Jesus Christ, the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.
And so I’m very glad to share with you some of my very favorite Bible verses. There are literally dozens of great Bible verses all about the eternal love of God!
We could actually think of these scripture passages as “Bible verse Valentines”!
Three Different Types of Love
While the English language only has one word for love, the Greek language actually has three (or even four) different words that are translated love in English.
The first Greek word for love is eros. This refers to sexual or romantic love. This word is not actually used in the Greek New Testament.
The second Greek word for love is phileo. This word describes human brotherly, friendship, or familial love and is found nearly 30 times in the New Testament.
Finally, the third Greek word for love found that is most commonly in the New Testament is agape. This is the highest form of love, sacrificial or unconditional love.
The Greek agape is translated into our English word love over 100 times in the New Testament!
70 Valentine’s Bible Quotes
I’ve divided up the Valentine’s Bible quotes found below into four sections.
The first section includes Bible verses directly related to God’s love. This includes both Old Testament and New Testament verses describing God’s amazing love.
For the New Testament verses that include references to God’s love, the Greek word translated love in English is agape.
The second section of verses has references to biblical instances or descriptions of human romantic love.
The third section includes Bible verses about human brotherly (phileo) love, while the fourth section has verses regarding unconditional (agape) human love.

The watchmen found me
as they went about in the city.

when I found him whom my soul loves.
I held him, and would not let him go
until I had brought him into my mother’s house,
