“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”
~Ephesians 4:29

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
~Psalm 19:14
Words carry so much power.  With our words we can encourage and build others up, or we can tear them down.

As a wife and mother, I know I can use words to encourage my husband and children.  It’s so important to always speak life-giving words.

When I have my morning prayer time, I ask the Lord, “Please help me to speak with wisdom and kindness today, and please help me to speak life into the hearts of my family and all I come in contact with.”  I often fail in this, but I just keep asking.

After listening to this song, it’s become part of our family’s vocabulary to say to each other, “Are you speaking life?”

I love this song! It served as the basis for a blog post that I wrote recently too. It is a powerful message. What are we speaking to others? Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.

Thank you for this reminder! I find that I'm trying to fit a lot into our days and I tend to get short and snappy when I feel stressed. Sometimes it really takes a conscience effort on my part to slow down and speak with kindness, let alone speak kind words.

Thanks for the reminder! Another song I love is Psalm 19 sung by Shane & Shane. I think we'll be discussing this at breakfast tomorrow =)

Our family used to ask each other if we're speaking life or death and then we heard this awesome song come out. 🙂 Such a great song and a very good reminder. I really needed this reminder again, so thanks for posting about the power of our words! I love, love, love your new blog header! Super cute! Did you design it yourself? Also, I used your recipe for soy candles last week and they turned out great! I did burn myself on the glue gun, though, which wasn't too fun. 🙂 Have a great week! ~Kristin Eason

Hey Kristin! I love that song! Thanks about the blog header–yes, I designed it myself. 🙂 It was time for a change. 🙂 I'm so glad the soy candle recipe worked out for you, but sorry you got burned! I can relate to that, as you know! 🙂
