Boys and Tea Parties

Our oldest son (age 8) declared that boys don’t drink tea…at least not at tea parties.  He could not be persuaded to drink even a drop.  Our youngest son (age 2) was more than happy to slurp down his cup of tea (with sugar and cream).  He said he was “done,” and slid out of his chair leaving his little toy horse behind.
I’m thankful for my two boys (and also my three girls, who love tea parties!).

  1. Rowan,

Thank you for the helpful suggestion! I think it would be a great idea to have my son help serve the food…maybe that would encourage him to join in the fun! 🙂

  2. Perhaps if you called it 'afternoon tea' rather than a tea party? Boys of that age can be very self conscious about taking part in what they consider to be girly affairs:)
Afternoon tea was generally more an occasion for ladies but when gentlemen were there they were expected to hand round the plates of sandwiches and cakes – maybe your eight year old would be happy to do that?

  3. Deanna,
You're right, boys are so special! Yes, I think most guys would at least enjoy the food! 🙂

    Mary,
Thanks for the idea about men being a part of tea time. I'll have to remember that. 🙂

I often stop by your blog but don't get to comment. Just today I wrote a comment on someone's blog and just as I pushed "publish your comment," our internet connection stopped working (which happens all the time) and I lost the comment. Before I could write it all over again my husband came and needed to get on his computer. This regularly happens to me, so sometimes I just don't get comments made. But I'm so glad to hear your happy news! You've inspired me to start trying again with my exercise program. It's so hard to find the time, but I really need to.

    Have a lovely day!

  4. This is too sweet! I never had tea parties, sadly. You could talk about the English tea time and how men were apart of that. It is a must and people stop what they are doing to have tea time. [o=

Thank you for stopping by and giving such encouraging words. That was the first time you left a note. It made my day! Thank you.

    Blessings and ((HUGS))
    -Mary

  5. Aren't boys special? Mine youngest likes tea – don't know if he would like tea parties too much any more, though I think he would just for the food! 🙂

Love that he left he wee animal behind!

    Deanna
