My Favorite Baby Carrier

I’ve been “wearing” my babies since the beginning of my mothering journey.  Through the years I think I’ve tried them all.  I started out with a handmade ring sling.  My midwife showed me how to use it, and I used this for several years.  We also tried other baby carriers as we found them or they were given to us.  Slings, front carriers, backpack carriers–we’ve used them all.
But with my fifth baby, I finally found the best one of all–the Moby Wrap.  During the newborn days I used this a lot.
We even bought a child-size Moby Wrap for our youngest daughter, so she could be just like Mommy.  She was thrilled with it, and she still uses it to carry her dolls.
My husband has his own preferences on baby carriers, and he loves the Baby Bjorn.  We bought this one with our third child, and my husband has carried babies all over with it, including just using it at home or even when he’s out in the garden (he’s so wonderful!).
I love this man…

  1. I used a wrap with my son, but I was able bodied until he was a toddler. With this baby, I will need something from the beginning so I will have my hands free to push my wheelchair. Do you have any tips on putting on one while sitting?

    1. I just did a quick google search on “tips for babywearing in a wheelchair,” and it brought up some helpful information. One mama suggested that a ring sling was easier to put on in a wheelchair than using a wrap, but other moms seemed to have successfully used the wrap, so I guess it just depends on what works best and is most comfortable for you and your baby.
