Home Birth Records

This was a meme that I found on a friend’s blog several years ago, and I thought it would be fun to participate, as women always seem to find these kinds of details fascinating!

Length of labors:
#1 – 3 hours
#2 – 5 hours
#3 – 4 hours
#4 – 3 hours
#5 – 5 hours
{I’m counting “active labor” hours, as my early labor is so mild that I usually don’t even know I’m in labor.  The hours I’m counting are the hours where I knew the birth was imminent.}
How labor began:

#1 – my water broke
#2 – water broke
#3 – I could just tell!
#4 – I just knew. Contractions became those “serious” kind pretty quickly.
#5 – Contractions changed to more uncomfortable ones.
Place of birth:
#1 – home
#2 – home
#3 – home
#4 – home
#5 – home
Birth Attendants:

#1 – a wonderful Certified Nurse-Midwife
#2 – a different CNM in another city
#3 – a wonderful CNM in another city
#4 – same CNM as #1 and  #5 and her assistant, who is an RN and also a Doula (a lovely lady!)
#5 – same CNM as #1 and #4 and her assistant who is an RN and Doula
