A Lace Skirt for Thanksgiving

Have you ever tried on an item of clothing and just fallen in love? That’s how it was with me and this lace skirt. ♥ When my sweet friend Caroline from Deborah & Co. offered to let me review one of her clothing items, I didn’t hesitate. I knew I wanted lace!
But I did waver for a moment. She has several adorable lace items that I had been eyeing for some time. When I saw this skirt, however, I knew it was what I was looking for. And let me tell you, it’s even more beautiful in person than it is on the website!
I wish I had taken a picture of the waistband to show you. It’s so incredibly comfortable! It’s like a wide piece of cream-colored elastic. I love it because it doesn’t add bulk at the waistline (something I really don’t need!), and it won’t roll like some other elastic-waistbands.
I’m 5’2″, and this skirt comes to my knees. The lace part extends lower than the underskirt, so that makes the skirt appear a bit longer. The lace overlay comes maybe an inch or two below my knees.
You might not think this would be suitable for cooler weather, but it was in the 50’s today, and I was quite comfortable with some ribbed tights and my boots.
The skirt is quite thin, so I did wear a nude-colored, short slip underneath. Even though it has a built-in slip/lining, I found I needed an added slip.
I just love everything about this skirt! It’s perfectly lovely and feminine. ♥ I think it will also be perfect as a Christmas skirt. And it will also be great in the spring and summer!
It was very windy while I was trying to take photos, so my daughter suggested I put my hair up in a bun so I wouldn’t have to keep holding it down! I decided to make a messy bun using these Lilla Rose Antique Style You-Pins. It’s amazing how well these two pins can hold up a hairstyle, and they’re very comfortable!

  1. I love your outfit! That skirt is gorgeous and I love how you look in it! I might just have to make that purchase sometime (maybe it will be on a Black Friday deal 🙂 ). Also, I have 5 children in the same gender order as you do and my oldest daughter (age 11) is named Ellyse (with 2 "L's" though because I thought Elly would be her nickname…..it isn't!).

    1. That's very kind, thank you, Bridget! And, it's so nice to meet you! That's amazing that we have several similarities, especially your oldest daughter being named Ellyse! My daughter said she would like for her nickname to be Elly, but it just didn't happen…we just always call her "Elyse," or "Deece," since that's what the younger children called her when they were babies. 🙂

  2. Thank you so much for featuring my post, Joy! What an honour! I love what you're wearing in this post, and the way you presented your outfit so beautifully in photo's. You are truly gifted! Blessings to you 🙂
