Find the full list of ingredients, amounts, and instructions in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- English Muffins: The classic base—sturdy enough to freeze and reheat well. You can use store-bought or make sourdough English muffins.
- Eggs: Whole eggs are cooked to your preference and they’re the protein that ties everything together.
- Bacon & Sausage: A delicious mix of savory flavors—use either or both.
- Cheese: Gouda melts beautifully, but cheddar, Swiss, or American cheese slices all work great.
- Butter or Cooking Spray: Helps prevent sticking when cooking the eggs.
How to Make Homemade Freezer Breakfast Sandwiches
Here are the step-by-step instructions for making this recipe:

Step One: Cook the Bacon and Sausage In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy (Photo 1). Remove and drain on paper towels. Set aside.
In the same skillet, cook the sausage patties (Photo 2) until fully cooked. Remove and drain on paper towels. Set aside.
Step Two: Cook the Eggs Heat a small non-stick pan or a pan with 4 egg rings over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or cooking spray. Crack an egg into each circle. Season with salt and pepper (Photo 3).
Cook until the whites are set and the yolk is cooked to your preference, about 3-4 minutes. If you prefer firmer yolks, flip the eggs and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. Remove from the pan and let cool slightly.

Step Three: Assemble the Sandwiches
Place the bottom half of each English muffin on a clean surface (Photo 4). Place a slice of cheese on each muffin half. (Photo 5).
For 3 sandwiches, top with a cooked egg (Photo 6)and two halves of bacon. For the other 3 sandwiches, top with a cooked egg and a sausage patty (Photo 7). Cover with the top half of the English muffin (Photo 8).

Step Four: Wrap and Freeze
Wrap each assembled sandwich in parchment paper. Place the wrapped sandwiches in a large Ziploc bag or airtight container.
Alternatively, you can wrap the English muffin sandwiches in plastic wrap and then add to a freezer bag, or you can wrap each sandwich with aluminum foil and skip the freezer bag.
Store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
How to Serve
To reheat, unwrap the frozen breakfast sandwich from the parchment paper and wrap it in a paper towel.
Reheat in a preheated 350°F (175°C) regular or toaster oven for about 20 minutes, or until heated through.
Alternatively, you can microwave on high for 1-2 minutes, or until heated through.
Recipe Tips
- For a healthier option, use whole wheat English muffins and turkey bacon or sausage instead of pork.
- You can also add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers to the eggs for added nutrition.
- Canadian bacon or pepper jack are other tasty options.
