Homemade Eggnog {Cooked}

This delicious homemade cooked eggnog is a favorite winter drink at our house! It’s perfect for holiday parties or just an everyday treat.
{Affiliate links included below.}

Ingredients:
7 eggs
1/2 gallon milk
1/2 cup pure maple syrup (This sugar-free syrup might work for those seeking a lower-carb option, but it is less thick than regular maple syrup)
1/4 tsp. unrefined salt
2 tablespoons vanilla
2 cups whipped cream
nutmeg

Directions:
1.Whisk together the eggs, milk, syrup (or sugar), and salt in a large saucepan.
2. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and will coat a spoon, about 1 hour (we let the girls take turns stirring, which they enjoyed–and it didn’t take quite an hour).
3. Pour the mixture into a bowl, and refrigerate for several hours.
4. When you are ready to serve, whip the cream and fold it into the eggnog (I actually just plopped the cream on the top). Garnish with a few shakes of nutmeg.
Makes 2 quarts

    I can't wait to try this. I grew up on my mom making egg nog in the winter and I will have to try to do it this winter. [o=

    Oh my goodness!!! This sounds DELISH and I love that it's cooked!!! My fiance & I love eggnog but I have never made it as I can't stomach the thought of drinking raw eggs (ew). I am so looking forward to surprising my soon-to-be husband with his favorite mug full of homemade eggnog!

    Thank you!! 🙂
