Creating things with my children makes me happy.  And I think they like it, too.  They always seem to be happiest when they’re creating something.  Our recent bout with illness (lasting for weeks) created a longing for something fun and cheerful, so I came up with a handful of simple things to brighten our days.

Sensory Bin for February
And to keep my youngest busy, I decided to make a Valentine’s sensory bin with a little container of quick oats someone gave us, and a few things from around the house.  It’s amazing how such a simple idea can keep little ones busy for so long.  This has already received a lot of use.

Thanks Joy, the children are working on them right now:).I didn't have any markers so we are just using watercolor paints.

Great! Yes, I forgot to mention that watercolors work, too–hope they enjoyed it! 🙂

Sorry to hear you all were not feeling well! Your projects all turned out so sweet ~ I especially love your pretty borax snowflakes. I bet the science involved with those makes it a neat project for all ages. 🙂 Hope you have a joy-filled (and healthy!) weekend!

A random question for you…I love the hearts you have hung up in the picture on your header. Did you all make them?

    1. Joy Kincaid says:

Yes, we made those last year. So easy and fun to make! Just get a coffee filter and fold it in half. Cut out a heart shape. You can fold it a few more times and cut other shapes (kind of like making coffee filter snowflakes). Then your children can color on the hearts with washable markers. Then spray with water, and the washable markers bleed, making kind of a watercolor effect. That's all there is to it!
