Ingredients in small bowls.
  • Tea: This Earl Grey tea latte recipe calls for 2 bags of Earl Grey tea
  • Milk: You can use any type of milk of your choice, including oat milk, coconut milk, or almond milk. I prefer whole milk if using cow’s milk.
  • Honey: This recipe uses a couple teaspoons of raw honey.
  • Vanilla Extract: You’ll need 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. It’s so easy to make your own homemade vanilla extract

Step 1: Boil water in a small saucepan and let the Earl Grey tea bags steep for 3 to 5 minutes.

Step 2: Warm up the milk in a saucepan and then froth it with a milk frother until thick foam appears and it has at least doubled in size.

Step 3: Add the vanilla extract to the milk and mix well.

Step 4: Add the honey to the tea.

Step 5: Divide the tea into two cups or mugs.

Step 6: Use a spoon to hold back the foam, and divide the hot milk between the two cups/mugs.

Step 7: Finally, add the milk foam to the top of the tea.

Step 8: Serve while hot. (Unless you want to make the iced London Fog latte version, and in that case you would make up to step 4, and then put the tea into the freezer for 10 minutes, and you would chill the milk. After the 10 minutes in the freezer, you would pour the chilled tea over ice and add the milk.)

How to Serve

Enjoy a hot cup of tea on its own or serve with your favorite pastry or baked good. This would be the perfect hot drink to serve with Sourdough Apple Cinnamon SconesSourdough Vanilla Almond Scones, or Apple Crumb Cake

How to Store

If you won’t be using all of the tea after it’s brewed, you can store it for up to a week in the fridge. Once the milk, honey and vanilla are combined, you can keep them for about three days in the fridge. You can reheat the tea or use it cold, frothing the other ingredients before serving with the tea.

Recipe FAQs

You can use vanilla syrup, regular maple syrup, or sugar-free syrup if you prefer.

You can use loose leaf. Just brew enough loose tea to make 2 servings using the traditional steep and strain method or a tea infuser

To get nice and foamy milk, you’ll need to put the whisk from your handheld milk frother into the cold milk.  Turn it on then and pull it up and push it down to get air worked into the milk. This will create a nice, rich foamy froth. You want the milk to about double in volume. When it becomes thick and creamy, you’ll know it’s ready!

There are quite a few ways to make your tea with added flavors. You can use a drop or two of your favorite edible essential oil (bergamot, also called bergamot orange is good) or you could add some relaxing lavender buds
