A Day in My Life
6:17 Awake and out of bed (My goal is 6:00, but we had a sick child who woke us up after we had gone to bed, so everyone (except for my husband) ended up getting up and around a bit later.)
6:30 Bible/prayer/Scripture memorization
7:00 Walk with my husband. It’s still dark outside and very cold! Thankfully, I’m wearing my fleece-lined leggings from Deborah & Co. to keep me warm.
I love being up and out for a walk before the sun has even fully risen. It’s energizing to have this early-morning time to talk to my husband, just the two of us.
7:30 Breakfast with my husband.
8:00 Shower/dress
I don’t wear makeup at home, but I do wear lipstick. For some reason it just makes the day go better. 🙂 I really love the Cowgirl Dirt lipsticks and all their lip products.
My hair is still wet from my shower, but I pull the sides back with a Lilla Rose flexi clip. This is an extra small “Elegant Ornate” style, which reminds me so much of a paper snowflake. I’ve been wearing it regularly this winter.
8:30 I head down to the basement to start a load of laundry.
Then I come back upstairs and make our bed.
9:15 In the kitchen I talk to the children while they finish up breakfast and chores. I decide to make myself some Dr. Cinnamon Tea (from The Bulk Herb Store–and I also got the tea strainer from there. The Dr. Cinnamon Tea is on sale this month with the code FEBCIN). Then I make a 2-quart jar of Singing Canary to drink throughout the day.
9:45 My two middle children are finishing the dishes, the older girls have already started their schoolwork, and I go to help my youngest get dressed.
10:10 School time for my youngest. He’s doing this pre-reading program, math, a handwriting book, and a “just-for-fun” workbook. Today he decides to color with his feet.
10:35 I go back down to the basement to switch the laundry. I’m hungry, so I grab a jar of choco-pudding that I had made ahead of time the day before.
I drink the Singing Canary while I’m working on school with my 9-year-old.
11:30 School time with my 11-year-old.
12:00 I make some preparations for tomorrow and organize some school supplies that I’m going to be using in the coming weeks.
12:30 Go down to my husband’s office (in our basement) and talk to him for a few minutes and check a few things on the computer.
1:00 Make/eat lunch. Today I’m having a beautiful and huge salad!
2:00 Took some pictures of my daughter with the new cowl she just finished knitting. (She asked me to take some photos for her blog post about it.)
Then I placed an order, checked email, and answered a knock at the door (Jehovah’s Witnesses). And published a new blog post.
Almost tripped on this truck and little boy (and a bunch of marbles) while coming up the stairs!
2:50 Put a twenty-pound turkey in the oven (which I should have done earlier, but I didn’t realize how extremely large this bird was until it was too late!). My husband likes to buy turkeys when they’re on sale, since they provide so much meat at an affordable price.
3:30 ?Then I did some work on the computer for my husband, checked email again, and did some other homeschool-related computer business.
4:15 One-on-one time with my oldest daughter. We decided to work on a new knitting project together. We’re watching a knitting video from Simply Charlotte Mason and then doing the projects in order. Even though we both already know how to knit, I thought it would be fun to do together.
Things got a bit too busy and I forgot to write down times and take photos. The girls and I made mashed potatoes (which I didn’t eat since they’re not good for my blood sugar!), homemade ranch dressing and a salad to go with the turkey. It seems like we had something else (a cooked vegetable), but now I can’t remember what it was. Then we ate and cleaned up the dishes and the kitchen and had read aloud time.
After dinner we had Family Bible Time in the living room, got ready for bed, tucked the kids in, and went to bed ourselves.
It was a very busy, full, and productive day!

I decided to stop by and lo and behold you had started back blogging! So glad! Your post was refreshing! I have a new blog: http://www.simplefarmmama.wordpress.com. Monica
Monica! So good to see you here! I can't wait to check out your new blog! 🙂
It's fun to see your day with such great pictures! I love that you and your husband take an early morning walk together. What a great way to spend some early morning time together!
Thanks so much for stopping by, Emily! Yes, the early morning walk is something we added to our schedule this year, and I love it on the days we get to do it. I'm hoping when spring comes we'll be able to do every single day (we've been missing it this week).
What a sweet day! Thank you for sharing. I *love* the pillow on your bed. (I see I'm not the only one!)
Thanks, Tracy! I wish every day could be as productive as that one was! 🙂
Your pictures are all so beautiful! I love the close ups.
I also love that pillow on your bed. The one that looks like a sweater. Did you make it?
Thank you, Rebekah! I got that pillow from Zulily, and I really love it, too (and I really love that I got it for free with my Zulily credits!).
I love that you're knitting with your daughter. My oldest daughter isn't interested in knitting, but my youngest (nine years old) is. I should teach her so we can sit together knitting. Thanks for inspiring me.
That's a great idea about teaching your youngest to knit! My second daughter (age 13) isn't at all interested in knitting, but she does love playing the piano, art, and baking. I try to discover each particular child's interests and giftings, and then we can enjoy spending time on their interests together. Thanks so much for stopping by, Jennifer!
Thanks for sharing, Joy! I have really been encouraged by your blog. I recently tried knitting (I love it!), made your playdough recipe, and tried some of your craft ideas. I want to try sewing next. Thanks! 🙂
Thank you for this sweet comment, Sara! I'm so glad you enjoyed knitting, and I hope you enjoy learning to sew! Blessings!
I loved this post and all the pictures. Thank you so much for encouraging me.
Thank you so much for stopping by, and thanks for the encouragement!
