This fruit crumble uses canned cherry pie filling to make this a super easy dessert. You can quickly mix this up and be ready to serve it in very little time! With cherry crumble, there’s no need for a pie crust, but you have all the flavor of a delicious pie.

​Easy Cherry Crumble Tips

  • You can replace the cherry pie filling with apple, blueberry, or strawberry filling. Just about any fruit filling would work here.
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan or place it in a bowl in the microwave. If you melt the butter in the microwave cut the butter into small cubes first.
  • You could also add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or almond extract to enhance the flavor.

  • Brown Sugar: This easy cherry crumble is sweetened with brown sugar.
  • Flour: All-purpose flour (I use unbleached).
  • Oats: This recipe calls for quick oats.
  • Walnuts: Finely chopped walnuts.
  • Butter: Use unsalted butter, melted.
  • Cinnamon: A bit of cinnamon is added for the perfect flavor.
  • Salt: If you use salted butter, you may need to reduce the amount of salt.
  • Cherry Pie Filling: ​You’ll need two cans of cherry pie filling.

How to Make Cherry Crumble

1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Make sure it does not turn brown. Remove from the heat. Reserve ½ tablespoon to butter the baking dish. 

2. To a large bowl add the flour, brown sugar, oats, walnuts, cinnamon, and coarse kosher salt. Mix well.

3. Add the melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix well.

4. Allow the crumble topping to sit for 10 minutes.

5. Butter the 9×13 baking dish with a pastry brush with the reserved butter. 

6. Add the cherry pie filling to the baking dish.

7. Sprinkle the crumb topping on top of the cherry filling.

8. Bake at 350° F uncovered for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown. 

9. Remove the baking dish from the oven.

10. Allow it to cool for 10 minutes before serving.

11. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream and enjoy.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup unsalted butter melted (reserve ½ tablespoon)
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 ½ cups brown sugar
    • 1 cup quick oats
    • ½ cup walnuts finely chopped
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • ¼ teaspoon coarse kosher salt or sea salt
    • 2 21 oz cans cherry pie filling

    Instructions

    • Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Make sure it does not turn brown. Remove from the heat. Reserve ½ tablespoon to butter the baking dish.
    • In a large bowl add the flour, brown sugar, oats, walnuts, cinnamon, and coarse kosher salt. Mix until you have a coarse consistency.
    • Pour the melted butter over the oat mixture.
    • Allow the crumble to sit for 10 minutes.
    • Butter the 9×13 baking dish with a pastry brush with the reserved butter.
    • Add the cherry pie filling to the baking dish and spread evenly over the bottom of the dish.
    • Sprinkle the crumb topping on top.
    • Bake at 350° F uncovered for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
    • Remove the baking dish from the oven. Allow cherry crumble to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
    • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream and enjoy.
