Homemade Chili

Homemade chili is one of my favorite supper recipes. It’s affordable, easy to make and always a hit with my husband and kids.

The distinctive scent of a simmering pot of chili wafting through the house lets everyone know what’s on the dinner menu!

One really nice thing about this recipe is that it’s so customizable. For chili con carne (using meat), you can use ground chicken, turkey or pork in place of ground beef.

If meat is unaffordable or unavailable, you can even leave it out and just add some extra beans or cheese for protein and flavor.

If your family isn’t a big fan of garlic or cumin, leave those ingredients out and just use onions and chili powder.

Feel free to try different beans such as pinto, kidney or ready-to-use chili beans (or experiment with a combination of those beans).

Try serving homemade chili with hot cornbread or garlic toast for a special addition to your meal.

Sour cream, grated cheese, and diced onions are all great options for chili toppings.

Give it a try and I think you’ll love this recipe as well!
