Chocolate Oatmeal Bars Sweetened with Honey

These chocolate oatmeal bars are perfect for breakfast or snacks. They’re not overly sweet, but they’re perfectly sweetened with honey.

Honey, oats, and chocolate chips make these the perfect snack bars.

I’ve been making these for years, and my kids love them. We sometimes eat them as part of breakfast, as they’re great with coffee or tea.

But most of the time, these are a delicious little snack for the kids. While these oat bars do contain sugar, they’re free of preservatives, food coloring, and other artificial ingredients. So I can still feel good about my kids eating them.

Chocolate Oatmeal Bars Notes

  • This recipe calls for a cup of whole wheat flour, but you can also use spelt. I often use spelt in place of the whole wheat.
  • You could replace the chocolate chips with carob chips or any other kind of chips you’d like to use.
  • In the photos, the bars are cut in a rectangular granola bar shape, but you can also cut them into squares. If you cut them into squares, the amount of servings in this recipe will be increased.

Bake at 325 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. (I start checking them at about 15 minutes, but it usually takes a bit longer before they are done.)

The bars may not feel “done,” but instead they will still be very moist. Don’t worry, they’ll firm up a bit as they cool.

Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting into bars. Then let them cool completely before removing from the pan and serving.

Store the bars at room temperature in a covered container.
