Using ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry, this recipe will show you how to make an apple pie spice substitute in minutes!

I’ve always been a huge fan of making my own spice blends. From pumpkin pie spice to taco seasoning, to this big batch of ranch dressing mix, I just love filling my pantry with jars of homemade mixes. The flavor is often better when you buy high-quality spices (I buy most of my spices in bulk from our food co-op).

Why I Love This Recipe

As soon as the weather starts turning cooler, our family likes to spend time in the kitchen making fall recipes. We have a tradition of making this easy apple crisp and this cream cheese apple dip as soon as the kitchen starts filling up with fall apples.

Apple cider and apple butter are usually on the list of traditional fall recipes we like to make every year. And before we even get started, I love mixing up some homemade spice blends.

You can make your own homemade spice blend for all your fall baking with this easy recipe! Sprinkle some on your pancakes or in your coffee. There are so many ways to use it!

What is Apple Pie Spice Made Of?

Apple pie spice can contain a variety of spices, including cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, cardamom, and ground ginger.

In this apple pie spice recipe without cardamom, we’re just using everyday spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. And while this simple recipe only includes those three spices, feel free to add cardamom or ginger if you prefer!
